The Onkyo TX-SR806 is the most amazing HT receiver I have ever owned. This beauty decodes DTS Master and Dolby TrueHD audio, and has 5 hdmi inputs for all your hi-def sources. What else could you ask for? I will stick with Onkyo from now on!

this receiver does everything.it has enough power to drive my polk sound system. i HAD an old SR800 HTiB with hdmi pass thru this system blows that old one away in terms of clarity(i had same speakers) the unit doesnt get hot, i have 4 inches on each side & 6 inches on the top, and this unit had hdmi sound. so now my ps3 can get dolby truehd, dts master audio etc. just set the ps3 to PCM and youre off & flying. movie dialogue sounds so crisp. this will be a staple of my home theater for years to come. great job onkyo

This is the fifth Onkyo AV receiver I have owned over the past 15+ years and this one is really special. In fact, I bought the SR606 before Christmas and decided that I needed more power, so I upgraded to this and kept the 606 too! Three things really stood out. First, having 5 HDMI inputs is nice, better than other brands in this price range. Second, the Audessey calibration seems much more accurate. My surround is a collection of in-ceiling, surface mount, and bookshelf speakers and it calibrated the level, crossover Hz, and speaker distance for each individual speaker flawlessly. Playing the armored truck/semi scene of The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray really showed off the receivers capabilities. Finally, the Zone 2 level can be adjusted from the front panel. No more pulling out my Onkyo amp to change the outside speaker volume. This receiver represents a "sweet spot" in AV receivers, I think the best value on the market today!

This model is incredibly sleek and elegant looking. I like that the speaker terminals are all lined up in the same row. The sound is incredible. I'm glad that I upgraded from the 605 -- which was an awesome value by itself.

I just got this one to replace my Pioneer Elite Receiver I've owned for a few years. The #1 reason I wanted this one was the 5 HDMI ports!!! Most in this price range only have 2, maybe 3 Inputs. With 5 I wouldn't need to get a external switch for more ports. I now have my Xbox 360, my Comcast HD Duel Tuner DVR, My Toshiba HD-A30 HD DVD Player, and my Panasonic BD-35 Blu-Ray player all hooked up to this receiver with HDMI. I also have a Old Philip's TIVO connected using S-VIdeo. All that gets sent out though a SINGLE HDMI cable to my HDTV. That's it, 1 HDMI Cable. I also like that I can Name each device on the Display to what I want it to say. So when I switch it to the Blu-Ray Input, it says Blu-Ray on front, if I'm watching Cable TV, I have it say Comcast TV, etc. A nice touch. The Speaker Calibration was a Snap. Plug the Mic in and it Automatically goes to the setup Menu and it's as simple as follow what it tells you to do. It was a snap. It figured out I was setup for 5.1 and not 7.1. Watching a HD DVD or Blu-Ray, the 1080P Picture is Amazing on my Plasma. I have it set to passthough the HDMI through the receiver for no Video processing as it's just not needed. The Surround sound, sounds great. I still need to replace my 2 Rear speakers. I have them I just have to Remove the cheap old ones, and put up the new good ones. It does everything that I need for it to do which is nice. I got it at a great price. I hope to be using it for years to come.

Great AV Receiver

I've had this for only month, but it seems to be working great. I bought it as a refurbished model from Shop Onkyo, but it showed up looking and working like new. I see some people on the forums complaining that it is much lighter than the previous model - the 805. Well, put a brick in it if that make you feel better. It seems to be made like a tank, and it looks and sounds great.

Amazing Receiver

I am just going to leave a short review for now, but once I get everything set up I will leave a more extensive review. I got this receiver instead of the SR805, because it was about the same price after the great deal I got on it. I have a Sony PS3 and needed the upgraged decoders in this model so I could enjoy Blu-Ray to the full extent I.E. Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD, etc. I have it hooked up to a pieced together Polk Audio Home Theater, to include Monitor 70 front channels, CS2 center channel, Monitor 40 Sorround, and a PSW 125 sub. It sounds incredible, and this receiver puts out more than enough power to take full advantage of the fore-mentioned speakers. The basic setup is a breeze thanks to the quick setup guide, and it has an amazing interactive on screen menu to adjust the settings from there, which is a nice plus. It has more inputs than you could ever use, including 4 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out. I have a HD tv (Sony KDS60-a200) a few years old, but still very current. Haven't tried the HDMI up-scaling since I have a HD source (PS3) hooked up to my TV already. Even the remote is much improved over my last Onkyo receiver. It is programmable for all your other accesories and is even a "smart" or learning remote, which is nice too. I have a Logitec Harmony 880, so I have no nee dfor the remote, but it is nice non the less. Hands down a very underrated receiver, but yet again another quality product from Onkyo!!
